TECHNICAL THEATRE TRIP 2024

Wednesday June 2024

We took technical theatre and drama students to the ABTT Theatre Show at the West Hall, Alexandra Palace, London on Wednesday 5 June. Usually the show is not open to under 16s.

The ABTT Theatre Show is an exhibition where between 100 and 150 suppliers relating to live performance technology engage with those responsible for delivery in the world of theatre, events, festivals, sport, film and TV. A range of peripheral activities are presented to support the exhibition, which is a well-established annual networking opportunity for the technical community.

Benefits of attending to pupils:

● If they are interested in technical theatre in general

● If they are interested in lighting, sound, set and props design and scenography

● If they are interested in directing

● If they are a student of GCSE or A level creative subjects

● If they are interested and considering GCSE drama/technical theatre and beyond

● If they are applying for a further education specialist drama or technical theatre course

● If they are looking for opportunities in technical theatre

● If they are interested in film, television, festivals and sporting events.

After attending the ABTT Show, we went to the Duchess Theatre for the 19:30 showing of the longest running comedy in the West End, The Play That Goes Wrong. The show brings the cast and crew together to battle against all that can go wrong in theatre!
